JOB SEARCH IN COLOMBIA IS DIFFERENT FROM EUROPE OR THE U.S. ISN'T IT?

PMB: "Yes and No. Yes, around 5 - 10% regarding job search follow "Colombian rules" (e.g. getting jobs by connections).

 

And NO: 80-90% regarding Job-Hunting, Job-Change, Job-Interviews etc. are the same all over the world. I worked with thousands of HR managers & recruiters internationally and we think and act quite the same way when hiring candidates for our companies. At least 70% of job searchers worldwide make the same mistakes and they apply hair-raising unprofessionally and wrongly for jobs. That applies to Colombians, too.

 

Oh yes, we have a hard and critical Colombian job market with an unemployment rate of Xx% for men and xx% for women. But:

  1. Blaming the "bad" job market does not get you a job. The job market is, how it is. YOU have to be perfect when applying for a job! If YOU make mistakes, then it are YOUR mistakes and not those of the companies.
  2. Blaming the pago minimo for 12 hours a day, does not get you a job, too. Perfectly trained candidates know, how to answer one of the most important questions in the heads of recruiters: "Why YOU, Miss Valdez? Why should we hire YOU, Mister Vargas?" In the workshop you learn, how to give value & profit to companies. As a simple worker. As a manager. As a woman or a man. Become a desired candidate!
